Our Story
Afterschool Programming

More than 300 pieces of artwork were collected from students across the DMV, along with contributions from as far as Spain. Candice personally delivered the artwork to students at Freeman and Eisenhower Elementary Schools in Flint, creating a powerful exchange rooted in compassion and creative expression.

In 2014, during the Flint, Michigan Water Crisis, EYL 365 Project founder Candice Napper saw a need to respond through creativity, education, and community.

Working with youth in Washington, DC, Candice used art as a way to help young people understand the crisis, express empathy, and support others during a time of need.

Students created poetry, paintings, sculptures, and handwritten letters to connect with and uplift youth in Flint.

What began as a single act of service has since grown into a network of partnerships across the DMV.

Today, EYL 365 Project connects teaching artists with schools, community organizations, and agencies to deliver impactful, arts-based programming that empowers youth and strengthens communities.
